A Brief Discussion on Sandpaper Used for Surface Polishing of Products and Its Characteristics

2020-03-30

At present, sandpaper widely used for grinding and polishing is mainly divided into: 1. Ordinary sandpaper with paper as the substrate; Sponge sandpaper based on sponge tissue, also known as "foam sandpaper"; 3. Film sand with film as the substrate.

Now let's mainly talk about the first two types of sandpaper with wide applications and high market share.

1. Ordinary page shaped sandpaper. Ordinary sandpaper is produced by using kraft paper/latex paper as the substrate, animal glue/synthetic resin glue as the adhesive, and artificial or natural silicon carbide, brown corundum, white corundum, and other abrasives as the abrasive. It adopts electrostatic sand planting technology, and uses the adsorption force of electric current to evenly arrange each sand particle on the surface of the paper coated with adhesive to ensure that the size of each sand particle is equal. Then, synthetic resin glue is applied to the sand particles and baked at high temperature to ensure that each sand particle is firmly adhered. The most common specification internationally is 230 * 280mm, which is 9 * 11, so we also call it "page shaped sandpaper".

At present, sandpaper can be roughly divided into three categories based on usage methods and product requirements: water sandpaper, dry sandpaper, and wet dry dual-use sandpaper.
